Seed Library

A table with seed packets, books, and a "Seed Library" sign, offering gardening resources and a seed list.

Edwards River Public Library has a Seed Library! The library contains various types of seeds, including herbs, vegetables, and flowers. The Seed Library is intended to help build a culture of self-reliance and resource sharing within the community.

How It Works:

  • Seeds are free and do not require a library card to take
  • Patrons are encouraged to take what they need while being conscious of other patrons. We suggest taking no more than 3-5 packets to ensure there’s enough for everyone
  • Donations will be added to the collection at the discretion of library staff.
  • The library will provide educational material on each type of seed. Additional gardening resources will be made available.
  • The Edwards River Public Library is not responsible for the growth or maintenance of the seeds provided. Germination is not guaranteed. The library is not responsible for any damage, cost, or loss resulting from the use or misuse of seeds obtained from the Seed Library.
  • As this is our first Seed Library, information/guidelines/rules may change as we learn what works best for our community.

Why Save Seeds?

You are not required to return any saved seeds to the Library, but may if you wish! When you participate in the Seed Library you create a culture of sharing and abundance.

Returning seeds to the seed lending library will help keep it self-sustaining. The more seeds in the library, the more members of our community can experience the pleasures of growing their own food.

Invite your friends and neighbors to participate with you and keep the community conversation alive about gardening, health, and nutrition.
